Colourful Bonalu Festival Reaches Final Stages In Hyderabad



The month-long colourful Bonalu festival celebrations in Hyderabad have reached final stages. On Monday of this Ashada masam, several temples in the twin cities have taken out the procession of deities on to the streets. 

Lakhs of Hindu devotes participated in the historic procession of Sri Matheshswari deity on well decorated elephant passed in the main streets of Charminar, Hyderabad.  The procession started from Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple near Lal Darwaza and culminated at Afzalgunj.

The small and big temples of the city were filled with lakhs of devotees who were dancing to the tunes of rhythmic drum beats and imitating potharaju’s.  The women in traditional attire carrying the bonam offered their prayers. 



Anuradha, the designated oracle, who performed Rangam on Bonalu celebrations at Akkanna Madanna temple, said that the goddess would protect people of the country and state from terrorists.
